Oct 2011 | End Malaria Day is an initiative spearheaded by Box of Crayons, The Domino Project and Malaria No More.

The book’s editor, Michael Bungay Stanier had a great idea some time ago. The author of Do More Great Work talked about the power of focusing on a great work project.

In the Q&A with Michael posted on Amazon, Michael said, “In the middle of 2010, I sat down to ask myself what my Great Work Project would be, and the idea for the first version of this book appeared.” Michael spoke about wanting to have an impact on a global scale and found out that $10 – the cost of a mosquito net- is the cheapest unit of global change.

Rewards, Threats, and What Truly Motivates People
by David Rock

It’s important to realise that money isn’t intrinsically motivating in many situations. If you give someone a bonus, but the circumstances are unfair, she might feel angry and threatened rather than rewarded. And when you recognise that autonomy is a reward in most situations, you’ll let your staff have more responsibility and make more choices—and this will be more rewarding than a bonus.
