The inagural HR Matters HR Forum a resounding success

21 Aug 09 Malaysia | HR Matters Magazine recently held its inaugural 2009 HR Forum. With a completely different format and structure aimed at fostering more of a learning environment, the event was well received by HR professionals. Spread out over a period of three days, the Forum was a one day affair that ran alongside a HR tradeshow. Following the Forum were two full days of complimentary mini-workshops on a number of HR issues.

The HR Forum was initiated due to the magazine survey respondents who had indicated in the last few months, their key concerns in this difficult economic climate.

Mark Hedley, Regional Director for HRMall Inc commented that he really enjoyed the Forum and was impressed with the quality of speakers and panel members. "Some of the sessions were quite thought-provoking..." A sentiment we've heard repeatedly, many participants showed an interest in hearing from some of these speakers again.

Some of the speakers who were well received include Muhammad Imran Kunalan Abdullah, the General Manager, K-Workers Development Department, Capacity Development Division, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDec) who moderated a session. Yazdi Bankwala Principal Consultant at Arpitha Associates Malaysia was also well-rated having presented some interesting views in a live interview. Annie Lim, the Head of HR at Novartis Corporation and Asohan Satkunasingham, Head of HR at KL Kepong Berhad entered into a bit of a lively debate during a session on rewards management. Sulynn Choong, a Positive Change Consultant (and regular contributor to the magazine) as well as
Kuhan Kanagarajan from AmBank Group, Vinnie Raviraj from Datacom South East Asia and Azlina Ahmad Azizah from Nestle Malaysia were also noted as good speakers.
