Power of Possibilities for Leaders
Age defying psychologist Ellen Langer comes to Malaysia

17 Mar 2010 Kuala Lumpur | International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) in its first Executive Series for 2010 will be bringing Dr Ellen Langer, world renowned psychologist from Harvard University, down to Kuala Lumpur. Dr Langer has studied the mind-body connection for the last 30 years.

On 22 April 2010 at the KL Convention Centre , Dr Langer will be demonstrating how by opening one’s mind to what is happening around us to new concepts, new ideas, will help us become better leaders and in the process improve our health.

Dr Langer said, “I am excited to have the opportunity to share my experiences and findings in Malaysia.”

The life and work of Dr Ellen Langer, Ph.D. is about to get the big-screen treatment as her book counter clockwise is being adapted into a major motion picture scheduled for release in 2010. Langer will be played by Jennifer Aniston.

Dr Langer’s groundbreaking studies, including the Counterclockwise study, have led to a remarkable set of findings on the practical applications of mindfulness for health: When people are taught to be mindful in a fashion very different from meditation, they become more creative, healthier, and happier. They show improvements in memory, attention, and productivity, a decrease in judgment of self and others, and a decrease in burnout.

As part of ICLIF’s executive series, preparations are underway to bring Dr Steward Friedman, a veteran Wharton School faculty member and former consultant to Jack Welch and Vice President of USA, Al Gore and Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, Business Week’s “one of the world’s ten most influential business school professors”. Prior to this ICLIF has hosted world renowned business gurus, Moshe Rubinstein and Marshall Goldsmith.

The International Centre for Leadership in Finance (ICLIF) was established as a not-for-profit corporation by Bank Negara Malaysia in October 2003 to provide leadership development programmes for Malaysian and global senior executives from financial institutions and business corporations. The mission of ICLIF is to develop a new generation of world-class leaders who can effectively manage their organisations by successfully weathering today’s turbulent, highly competitive and globalised business environment. ICLIF designs and delivers a series of competency-based programmes aimed at addressing the needs of the market and to reinforce the leadership capabilities of senior executives to enable them to meet the challenges of the marketplace and to take their organizations to higher levels of performance.
