Global Web Poll : 61% of professionals hoping to move jobs in next 3 months

15 June 2011

In a recent report released on 30 May, Robert Walters confirms that more than 61% of professionals in Singapore are hoping to move jobs in the next 3 months. This is according to a recent global poll of more than 2,835 workers conducted by the firm.

Participants were asked when they hoped to make their next career move, with answer options ranging from the next 3 months to 3 years. The poll result showed that within the Asia Pacific region, professionals in Singapore were most keen to move in the next 3 months (61% of respondents), followed by Hong Kong (57%), Malaysia (56%), and Thailand (52%).

Andrea Ross, Managing Director at Robert Walters Singapore & Malaysia, says, “These figures indicate that professionals are optimistic about the job market. The challenge will be ensuring that appropriate roles are available, specifically for more niche appointments out there in the market”.

“With so many job-seekers looking to move in the next 3 months, employers are likely to face an increase in staff churn and greater pressure to retain their top talent.”

The poll also revealed that amongst respondents from Singapore, 24% are hoping to move jobs in the next 3-6 months, 7% of respondents are hoping to move in the next 6-12 months, and 8% are looking to move in 12-18 months.
