LinkedIn Launches in Bahasa Malaysia
Professionals around the world can now access LinkedIn in Bahasa Malaysia
12 December 2011

Kuala Lumpur | LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 135 million members worldwide, and over 20 million in Asia Pacific, announced on 1 December 2011, that LinkedIn is now available in Bahasa Malaysia. Hundreds of thousands of Malaysian professionals already have LinkedIn profiles, and there are more than 100 LinkedIn Groups in Bahasa Malaysia. Large companies like Sime Darby Berhad, Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Petronas already have LinkedIn Company Pages on the site.

The top three industries in Malaysia by LinkedIn membership are:
1. Information Technology and Services
2. Oil & Energy
3. Education Management

The three companies in Malaysia with the most employees on LinkedIn are:
1. Petronas
2. Telekom Malaysia
3. CIMB Group

Commenting on the announcement, Clifford Rosenberg, Managing Director S.E. Asia & Australia NZ at LinkedIn said, “Nearly 700,000 professionals in Malaysia are already establishing their professional identities, building their networks and gaining access to insights and opportunities on LinkedIn.

CLIFFORD ROSENBERG, MANAGING DIRECTOR SE ASIA
& AUSTRALIA NZ, LINKEDIN.

“Today’s Bahasa Malaysia language launch will better support the growing number of Malaysian professionals joining LinkedIn. We have a growing member base in Malaysia and believe LinkedIn has a big opportunity for growth here. Local language availability often precipitates a whole new generation of LinkedIn users locally, enhancing the experience for the entire community,” continued Mr. Rosenberg.

The launch of LinkedIn in Bahasa Malaysia language is taking place as organisations in Malaysia are facing a heightened challenge for top talent, due to a limited talent pool and a Gen Y workforce attracted by opportunities to work in other South East Asian countries . LinkedIn is well-positioned to help professionals and companies in Malaysia connect opportunity with talent with its large, global network of resources and opportunities.

Recruiters rely on LinkedIn’s large talent pool to find ‘passive’ candidates - highly skilled professionals who are currently employed. These passive candidates may not be actively seeking a new job opportunity but might be the best suited for key roles.

LinkedIn helps people to manage their professional brand online, raise their profile and build their career. Professionals can gain new job or business opportunities, insights and information by networking on LinkedIn with their past and present colleagues, employers, customers, partners and other like-minded professionals in a trusted environment.

New LinkedIn members can view the site and create a LinkedIn Profile in Bahasa Malaysia by going to http://my.linkedin.com. Current LinkedIn members who have been using the site in English can switch their language settings to Bahasa Malaysia at http://linkd.in/changelanguage.

Marketers use LinkedIn to target the world’s largest professional network of affluent, influential and successful people. More than one million companies have LinkedIn Company Pages, allowing them to better manage their brands and products, as well as engage directly with customers on LinkedIn.

Language localisation has been key to LinkedIn’s international expansion. In addition to Bahasa Malaysia, LinkedIn is also available in eleven other languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

Founded in 2003, LinkedIn connects the world's professionals to make them more productive and successful. With more than 135 million members worldwide, including executives from every Fortune 500 company, LinkedIn is the world's largest professional network on the Internet. The company has a diversified business model with revenue coming from member subscriptions, marketing solutions and hiring solutions. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, LinkedIn also has offices across North America, as well as throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.
