Malakoff wins prestigious HRDF award 2011

Kuala Lumpur | Malakoff Corporation Berhad walked away with the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) Best Award for Large Employer, Services Sector at the recent HRDF Annual Conference 2011 held at the Sunway Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur in September 2011.

Malakoff’s Chief Executive Officer, En. Zainal Abidin Jalil shared, “Winning this Award is a truly prestigious accolade among Human Resource Development professionals across Malaysia. Malakoff is deeply grateful for this honour. We recognise that our success in meeting business and operational targets depends largely on the strength of our competent, dedicated and well-trained workforce. To ensure that we maintain our competitive edge and remain at the forefront in the Power and Water Generation business, we are committed to the knowledge and capabilities of our talent pool being constantly enhanced.”

With a start up of only 70 personnel in 1993 involved in its power generation business, Malakoff has today grown to over 1,000 personnel and is Malaysia’s largest independent power producer with net generating capacity of 5,020 MegaWatt from its six power stations. As part of its global expansion plans, Malakoff also has operations in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, as well as Algeria with plans to make inroads into fast-growing South East Asian markets.

In 2010 alone, Malakoff spent RM 6.7 million on its comprehensive programmes encompassing Technical and Soft Skills as well as on-the-job trainings. This covered a record 6,743 total training man-days.

Further reflecting Malakoff’s strong commitment towards Talent Management and Development, the Malakoff Academy of Excellence (better known as MAX) was launched in 2010 with an investment over RM 2.1 million. MAX is a Learning & Development Centre with a mission to enhance the potential of human capital in Malakoff, and realise its training & development intent – ‘Your Aspiration is Our Ambition.’
