New research shows 96% of firms do not provide clear information at different stages of job application
Lumesse ‘Business Impact of New Talent Acquisition’ 2011 Awards & Symposium: Corporate website is first stop for young talents
22 Aug 2011

Kuala Lumpur | New research released in early August 2011, at the ‘Business Impact of New Talent Acquisition’ 2011 awards & symposium organised by Lumesse, reveals that many companies are at risk of losing young talent by not understanding discrepancies between the expectations of young job seekers and current recruitment practices.

The impact of poor online recruitment processes could be detrimental to their employer branding efforts, especially when companies are in need of new people to fill up the talent pipeline in a highly competitive marketplace. This is the first time that this online recruitment research has been conducted in Malaysia, following the success of similar research in China, Hong Kong and Singapore during 2010.

The research found that 96 per cent of firms do not provide clear information (on their career website) at different stages of job application, especially as young talents rate corporate websites as their top job-seeking channel.

“Many employers still do not realise the importance of their career website as the key touch point to potential young talents. HR should review how the candidate experience could be optimised by enhancing recruiting programs and integrate personal interaction with innovative technology to create an outstanding candidate experience,” said Mr Rolf Bezemer, Lumesse MD for ASEAN and Australia.

Other research findings include:·

  • 80% of firms do not offer any search functions, making it difficult for applicants to search for relevant posts.
  • None of those surveyed followed up with either an acceptance or decline notification, not giving applicants any closure
  • None of those surveyed had Social Media deployed as part of recruitment strategy.

At the event which was held on 20th July 2011, Lumesse released key findings from this latest recruitment research, and awards were presented to the three best performing companies for their online recruitment efforts. The top winner was KPJ Heathcare Berhad.
