Jakarta |
Robert Walters PLC (LSE: RWA) announced late November 2011, the expansion of its Asian network with a new office in Jakarta, Indonesia.

After successfully launching its Ho Chi Minh office this year, Robert Walters’ new operations in Indonesia continued the Group’s growth strategy in Asia, in response to an increasing demand from both clients and candidates for specialist and international recruitment services in Indonesia - currently the world’s fourth largest country by population and the biggest economy in Southeast Asia.

“Indonesia is being talked about as the extra ‘I’ in BRI(I)C - Brazil, Russia, India, Indonesia and China, countries deemed to be at similar stages of economic growth. Indonesia has shown strong GDP growth in the last few years, a growing middle class population and more foreign investment - which are all key ingredients for us as a recruitment firm to be setting up an office in the country,” says Mr. Mark Ellwood, Managing Director – Asia. “We’re responding to requests from existing clients in the region to work on positions based in Indonesia, so there is clearly demand for us to leverage our regional relationships and to develop the domestic clientele once we have established ourselves.”

The Jakarta office will have an initial focus on banking & finance and sales & marketing roles with plans for gradual expansion into other disciplines as client and candidate relationships are established. Mr. Ellwood explains: “We will look at further office locations outside of Jakarta where we feel there is a demand from our clients and candidates for our unique and specialist approach to recruitment.”

Mr. Ian Robertson, Country Manager for Robert Walters Indonesia says: “Robert Walters is proud to become a part of Indonesia’s booming, high growth economy. The market here offers a huge potential with the entrance of numerous foreign multinationals. We have seen a spike of demand for middle to senior management professionals and hope to offer exemplary levels of service and introduce a highly professional level of recruitment that the market has yet to experience.”
